What is Yoga Therapy?
Our bodies are constantly communicating with us, but in the pace of everyday life, it can be easy to lose touch with what they are telling us. Yoga Therapy offers a gentle, individualized approach to reconnecting with your body and supporting your overall well-being.
Stress and tension are often held in the body, whether they stem from physical strain, emotional experiences, or the demands of daily life. You may be recovering from an injury, navigating a health challenge, experiencing persistent stress, or simply feeling disconnected from yourself. Yoga Therapy provides a safe and supportive space to explore how yoga can meet your unique needs.
Unlike a regular yoga class, Yoga Therapy is tailored to the individual. Each one-on-one session is designed around your personal goals, concerns, and current condition. Sessions may include supported restorative postures, breathwork, relaxation techniques, mindful movement, and guided self-inquiry. When appropriate and with your consent, gentle hands-on support may also be incorporated.
Rather than focusing on achieving particular poses, Yoga Therapy encourages you to slow down, listen to your body, and cultivate greater awareness. By reducing unnecessary tension and supporting the body's natural capacity for regulation and recovery, it can help foster greater ease, resilience, and balance.
Whether you are looking to complement medical care, manage stress, improve mobility, or deepen your connection with yourself, Yoga Therapy offers a compassionate and holistic approach to health and well-being.
I AM Yoga Therapy
Norman completed the I AM Yoga Therapy training with Kamini Desai, founder of the I AM Yoga Therapy approach. This method combines the wisdom of traditional yoga with contemporary understanding of the body, mind, and nervous system, supporting each person as a whole rather than focusing solely on symptoms.
The practice recognizes that physical, mental, and emotional experiences are deeply interconnected. Through individualized sessions, Yoga Therapy creates space to explore these connections while working at a pace that feels safe and appropriate for you.
